William Ruto's questionable integrity and ineligibility criteria claims are grounds that David Murathe may use to frustrate the deputy president's 2022 bid.
Murathe declared war with Mr.Ruto and vowed to ensure that the deputy president, who hopes to succeed president Uhuru, does not ascend to the presidency in 2022.
"We will fight him in all corners, on the land, on air and even in the sea," on his Facebook page.
The former official has said on record that, Mr.Ruto would not be eligible to run for the presidency because he would have served his two terms with president Uhuru since they were elected on a joint ticket.
"If you (Ruto) have led with Uhuru for two terms, what else do you want. We don't know someone who will guard us but we know someone who will break us. We will take someone who will safeguard Mt Kenya," he argued in December during an event in Vihiga.
In addition to arguing that the deputy president was not eligible to run, perhaps in court, Murathe may also claim that Mr.Ruto's reputation has been tainted by a number of corruption allegations.
After the emergence of suspected fraud on issues concerning the construction of dams in Elgeyo Marakwet county, where billions of money were suspected to have been lost, Murathe blamed Ruto for looting public coffers and rocking the country's economy.
"He should surrender his looted billions in his accounts to save this country from the economic burden," argued Murathe in a post on his social media pages.
