Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on Monday led the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) brigade in drumming up support for the party's aspirant for the Migori senatorial seat Ochilo Ayacko.
Joho who doubles up as the Orange party Deputy Leader was accompanied by Suna East parliamentarian Junet Mohammed, Migori Woman Representative Pamela Odhiambo, Rongo lawmaker Paul Abuor among others.
The team snaked its way through Kuria West and East constituencies and later Nyatike and Rongo sub-counties.
At a stop-over in Ntimaru, Kuria East, Joho termed the former Cabinet Minister as the best option, noting that he has all the needed qualities to serve in the senatorial capacity.
"We have come here to urge you to vote for the right candidate and ODM has presented that candidate for you. Mr Ayacko has the best qualities to represent your interests at the senate," he was quoted by the Nation.
Ayacko and Federal Party of Kenya (FPK) candidate Eddy Oketch, are the main contenders in the race.
This is after another hopeful, Solomon Hodo of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday stepped down, declaring support for Oketch instead.
Others are Peter Jobando (Green Congress Party), Dickson Ogolla, and Samuel Otieno, both of whom are vying as independent candidates.
The seat fell vacant following the death of Ben Oluoch Okello with the repeat election set for October 8.
