Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Shollei has called for a speedy probe into Deputy President William Ruto’s assassination claims.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV Tuesday, Shollei said that the claims are serious.
She urged the office of the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to come to the bottom of the matter before it is too late. She noted that the DP cannot report something out of a blues.
“If indeed the DP reported, then, it is extremely serious and I do not think it is a matter that should be taken lightly, “she said.
The lawmaker also said that it won’t hurt investigation agencies looking into the matter. She further noted that something could happen if the allegations are ignored in totality.
“There is no harm in investigating the matter and it is better to prevent the happening than have a situation where it can indeed happen," she challenged the DCI.
Her sentiments come after the DCI summoned Cabinet Secretaries Joe Mucheru (ICT), Peter Munya (Trade), Cecilly Kariuki (Health) and James Macharia (Transport) over the alleged plot.
The CSs, however, insisted that they are not planning anything harmful. Munya also assured Ruto of their support as the Jubilee government seeks to achieve the Big Four agenda.
