Residents of Bogwendo in Manga Nyamira County are living in fear after a body of a 35-year-old man was found dumped near river Bogwendo on Wednesday.
Confirming the incident, area chief Daniel Kibeni said the body of the deceased Elijah Mwamba Momanyi was recovered by a woman who was passing near the river.
"A woman who was passing near the river spotted Momanyi lying down and raised alarm. Members of the public arrived at the scene and found him dead," said Kibeni.
The administrator said the body had no visible injuries.
"Momanyi's body had no injuries. Probe has commenced to establish what might have caused his death. Anyone with information about his death should report to police," he noted.
The chief said police officers from Manga took the body to Medicare hospital morgue.
Kibeni said crime is at the peak in the area.
"Residents should be on high alert to report criminals to police so that we can end crime. Youths who have ventured into crime should surrender to police or stop before the law catches up with them," he added.
