Dr Christine Ombaka is currently serving her second term as Siaya County’s Woman Representative.

Elected on ODM party ticket in both 2013 and 2017 general elections, Dr Ombaka has moved up the career ladder as a professional teacher to grace Siaya County’s political high table.

Her popularity saw her become one of the two women to retain their Woman Representative seats in Luo Nyanza last year, after being elected in 2013, alongside Homa bay’s Gladys Wanga.

Kisumu’s Rose Nyamunga and Migori’s Denittah Ghati did not defend their seats after losing in ODM party primaries.

She holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the Irish International University, UK, Master of Arts Degree in Linguistics from the Lancaster University, UK and Bachelor of Education acquired from the University of Nairobi in 1977.She is an alumni of the famous Moi Girls High School, Eldoret. 

The Woman Representative has been a National Examiner of English Language, a deputy principal at the Migingo Secondary School, a Principal at the Sinyolo Girls Secondary School and a lecturer at Moi University in Eldoret.

Before her election in 2013, she served as Director of the Institute for Gender Studies at the Maseno University until 2012.

Dr Christine Ombaka is a member of two committees in the National Assembly; Sports, Tourism and Culture and Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee.
