An angry wife engaged in a fist fight with her husband, a fight brewed by the presence of a househelp in their home.
The incident happened on Monday in Nyamira Township ward, Nyamira County.
It is alleged that the enraged wife, Emily Kemunto accused her husband Jonah Oira of seducing Zipporah Mokeira who has been working at their home as house help.
“I work as a nurse at Nyamira county referral hospital while my husband is a veterinary officer. I returned home at 5 pm and found my husband with the house help closely seated inside the house. Upon questioning the maid, she revealed that my husband was seducing her and wanted her to sleep with him,” said Kemunto.
Kemunto said she got angry at the husband who refused to explain why he decided to turn his attention to Mokeira.
“I was mad at my husband since he threatened to beat me up. I slapped him for disrespecting me,” she noted.
Neighbours led by Boniface Otundo said the couple exchanged blows before they were separated.
"I saw them fighting. I mobilized other neighbours and we rushed to the homestead and stopped them from fighting in front of their 2 kids,” explained Otundo.
Area administrator, Joseph Mong'are said the househelp was asked to leave the house in a bid to prevent a similar incident from happening.
“This is not the first case to be reported in the area. Men have been targeting their house helps for sex. Women should ensure they satisfy their men in bed so that they don’t end up seducing maids,” he said.
