These days, parents have lesser time with their kids due to a number of reasons one of them being the need to make ends meet.
Their absence has made kids learn about themselves and about life without much input from their parents. In other cases, some parents have forgotten to teach their kids the important things about life while they are growing up.
Here are 3 important things parents forget to teach their kids:
1. How to make friends and socialize
Some parents assume that making friends and socializing are things children learn from others. This is wrong and it should be known to them that kids need direction from them and not their friends (who might mislead them).
Some kids live in solitude just because their parents fail to teach them how to socialize and make friends. Some make bad friends because they haven't been enlightened on how to find good friends.
2. To take responsibility for their actions
Children need to be trained on how to take responsibility for their own actions. Parents forget to make their children learn by holding them responsible for their actions.
Holding them responsible for their actions lets them know what is bad and good.
3. To respect and value themselves
The self-esteem and self-respect of a child is determined by how much effort the parents put on teaching the child how important they should consider themselves.
Most parents assume that the kids will develop these values once they become of age and this should not be the case; they deserve to be taught earlier.
Parents should not assume that their kids will grow and learn from others because they learn best from their parents.
