Deputy President William Ruto has celebrated Jubilee party's victory in the Wajir West parliamentary by-election.
In the election, Jubilee candidate Ahmed Kolosh emerged victorious after garnering 11,053 votes against KANU's Sheikh Ibrahim who secured 6,532 votes.
In a tweet on Friday, Ruto congratulated Kolosh for winning adding that the win signified the confidence that Wajir residents have in Jubilee Party and Kolosh.
“Congratulations to Jubilee’s Mohamed Ahmed Kolosh for recapturing the Wajir West Constituency seat. The victory is testament to the confidence your constituents have on your ability and our party. Godspeed as you embark on service delivery and quality representation,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, the Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale has also congratulated Kolosh for the win.
"Wajir West voters have confirmed their confidence in the Jubilee Party and its leadership led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto. Wajir West constituency has been the hotbed of opposition politics and it confirms that Jubilee Party has secured a foothold since we did not field a candidate in the 2017 general election," he said in a statement on his Facebook page.
The Wajir West seat fell vacant following a ruling by the Supreme Court in January that nullified the election of Kolosh on grounds that he was not validly elected.
