Kikuyu legislator Kimani Ichung'wa has revealed that he received death threats for associating with Deputy President William Ruto.

In a tweet on Tuesday morning, Ichung'wa revealed that last year, his life was in danger for working with Ruto. 

"This happened to me last year. My only crime to warrant death threats was associating or working with @WilliamsRuto. Report made to @NPSOfficial_KE @DCI_Kenya @IG_NPS. Months after my security was withdrawn & now we hear of DPs assassination threats," he said.

The Mt Kenya legislator who is in DP Ruto's Tanga Tanga camp on shared audio where someone, speaking in Kikuyu was threatening him. 

On Monday, DP Ruto made a call to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation boss George Kinoti claiming that his life was in danger as some Mt Kenya legislators were planning to assassinate him. 

Four Mt Kenya Cabinet Secretaries were summoned by the DCI for allegedly plotting to assassinate Ruto. 

DP Ruto is grooming himself to tave over from President Uhuru Kenyatta as his second and last term expires in 2022.
