Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has been accused of interfering with President Uhuru Kenyatta's protocol at Kisii last week during short speeches at Capitol Roundabout that saw several politicians blocked from addressing people.

At the function, only President Uhuru, Raila Odinga, DP William Ruto, Governor John Nyagarama, James Ongwae and Dr Matiang'i addressed people, raising the questions of undermining local leaders.

A legilator who spoke in confidence, says Dr Matiang'i blocked them from addressing the function by conspiring with presidential protocol team since they are perceived to be allied to Ruto.

"We are elected leaders and it was important that we were recognized. However, Matiang'i accuses us of siding with Ruto and he was keen to have us blocked from addressing the function," the MP claimed.

Earlier at Kisii School on Wednesday, Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka had hinted a possible political duel when he tasked President Uhuru Kenyatta to declare his stand on referendum.

He said: "I was the chairman Tanga Tanga. Ruto is my friend so as Raila. You have kept quiet on the referendum. Tell us what you really want. Tell us your agreement with Raila on referendum," he said.

So divisive was the tour that a section of leaders from Nyamira snubbed it on claims that Uhuru had failed to honour his initial promise of touring Nyamira County before dropping the idea under unclear circumstances.

West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi said: "We agreed to boycott but I saw a few of us there. This is betrayal. We are not going to take situations where we are undermined. We are not a Sub County," he argued.

Dr Matiang'i is believed to be plotting to go for major political seat but he's yet to declare his stand. For the last six years, he has been at loggerheads with politicians from the region due to supremacy battles.
