Raila Odinga's ODM party may call for street protests besides filing impeachment motion against Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich over fuel price crisis, it has emerged.
The government has already gazetted 16% VAT on fuel causing uproar across the country.
Interestingly, parliament, through Suna East MP Junet Mohammed had suspended implementation of the plans.
And in Nairobi, MPs Caleb Amisi (Saboti), Mark Nyamita (Uriri) and Antony Oluoch of Mathare revealed plans to go to streets over the crisis.
"The fact that we are in recess doesn't mean our hands are tied," Oluoch said during a Sunday service at Daniel Comboni Catholic Church in Mathare.
"When you tax fuel, you are directly hurting the majority who live below the poverty line," Nyamitta said.
Mr. Amisi warned that ODM could move to streets to show it's disappointment with the government.
"It is quite disgusting. We shall move to people at the same time deal with Rotich in parliament."
Instead, Raila's team wants treasury to shift attention to the rich to fund the budget.
On social media, users pleaded with Raila, who has since reconciled with Uhuru, to speak on escalating prices.
But those allied to ODM warned Mr. Odinga against meddling in the matter adding that 'government supporters should go to streets."
