The managing director of Beer Company, East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) Jane Karuku is among the well-paid CEO’s in the nation. She takes home a whooping Sh7.2 million ($69,984) per month. This means that she earns more than the President and his Deputy combined.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto earn Ksh 1,650,000 per month and Ksh 1,487,500 which excludes allowances per month respectively. In total, the two earn Sh.3137500 excluding monthly allowances.

The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) makes it clear that no government official earns more than the President and his deputy. 

Karuku, who graduated from UON, is not a government employee. She once acted as Joint Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Telkom Kenya Limited before she decided to leave.

In a past interview, Karuku revealed that it takes hard work and commitment to be one of the best-paid CEOs in the nation. She divulged that she has been committed to making things better at the firm since she was appointed to the position.

 “I know I am very firm, focused and I shoot from the hip but I do it in a gentle way. I won’t bang tables but I will see that things get done right by leading the people I lead to do what they are supposed to,” she said in part as quoted by a local daily.
