Blogger Robert Alai insists that newly appointed African Union High Representative for Infrastructural Development Raila Odinga appointed his daughter Winnie Odinga as Personal Secretary to his new offices.
Mr. Odinga reported formally to his South African Regional offices on Monday in the company of Ms. Odinga, who attended the formal meeting.
Raila said: "Visiting the The NEPAD offices in Midrand, South Africa today. Happy to meet the team led by Dr Ibrahim Mayaki.
"We had a very lively discussion regarding the Program for Infrastructure Development in Africa focusing on the missing links along the TransNational Highway corridors, the continental High Speed Rail program as well as Open skies to allow for easier trade and transportation. It’s time for Africa to get moving and I look forward to working with the team."
But on his Facebook, Alai, a former ally turn critic, insisted that Raila had appointed Ms. Odinga to the position further sparking fierce online debate.
He said: "Raila's assistant in his new appointment is his daughter, the incompetent but blindly greedy, Winnie Odinga. A complete waste of time and effort. Will achieve NOTHING!"
When contacted about the new development, ODM party lawyer Tony Moturi's response as a polite not yet', contradicting Alai's position.
Since the exit of Rosemary Odinga from politics due to an illness, Mr. Odinga has been working closely with his youngest daughter.
