A martyr in a relationship is someone who has given up when it comes to solving relationship problems.
There are feelings of helplessness since, as a martyr, you have given up your power in the relationship.
A martyr displays the following signs:
1.Anger and resentment because you are disappointed in the relationship
This anger is brought about by the thought that everything in the relationship could be solved if your partner did things differently.
In your mind, your spouse should change, which automatically solves everything.
Underneath the anger and resentment, lies fear and possibly depression.
2. You talk to people who cannot change anything
Rather than talking with your partner, you resort to friends who do not understand anything about your relationship.
The worst case scenario is calling a radio station to air your problems.
3. You complain a lot about your partner
You want to be seen as the victim in the relationship.
You do not accept responsibility for the problems you are facing in the relationship.
4. You reject suggestions offered to you
When you talk to others about your problems, they often offer suggestions on how you can solve it.
however, your first reaction is to reject them.
5. The problem has lasted long
The problems you are going through has lasted more than three months.
As a martyr, you show no commitment to solving them.
