Police officers in Subukia are investigating an incident where a woman was found mysteriously killed by unknown people in her house in Siyombon village, Friday morning.
The woman, Eunice Chepngetich was reportedly discovered dead by her class eight son who was coming from the neighbouring homestead where he sleeps.
The boy who was on his way to school reportedly came across traces of blood outside the house, before going in, only to find his mother lying in a pool of blood on the floor.
A neighbour said fresh blood was still oozing from her injuries at the time of the discovery, and some house items were also stained in the blood which points at a possible struggle with her killers before her death.
“The single mother was sleeping alone in her house during the brutal attack. Her body was found still oozing blood,” Dan Kogo, a neighbour, told the Standard.
The incident which is suspected to be the emanating from a love triangle was confirmed by area Sub County Police Commander Jacinta Wangechi.
The boy said that she left the mother well the previous evening, after having supper at about 8 pm, after which he left to go and sleep.
The neighbour said he never heard any commotion at her house and was therefore unable to rescue her from the suspected killers.
"We suspect the woman was attacked by a kitchen knife while sleeping. It is unfortunate we could not rescue her as we did not hear her cry for help," noted Kogo as quoted by the Standard.
The woman is said to have just recovered from an initial attack from the son of her former lover who was reportedly unhappy with the relationship.
Her body was moved to the Nyahururu Hospital Mortuary.
