Duale says that elected and nominated leaders in the region should take advantage of the devolution to champion development.

The Jubilee legislator said that devolution is a blessing, especially to North Eastern residents.

He argues that the region had been neglected by the past government regimes but through devolution, locals are now enjoying services.

The Garissa MP said that there is no point of elected leaders engaging in idle talk, political sideshows, incitement, and political rivalry.

“We as elected leaders must take advantage of the resources we have under devolution to champion the interests of our people,” he said.

The Garissa MP said that North Eastern region is the next big economic bloc in the country.

He said that region has resources that if harnessed can change its economic sphere.

Duale maintained that the region will not support referendum push.

He claimed that some forces behind referendum want to merge counties in Northern Kenya.

“We have made it clear that as a region we will vehemently oppose any attempts to merge or reduce counties in Northern Kenya,” he said.

The MP maintains that the referendum push is malicious and is allegedly being pushed by people bargaining for power in 2022.
