Addressing the press in Nakuru on Saturday, Ngunjiri said the move was in order as the report lacked the required insights on the culprits behind the importation of the contraband sugar into the country.

The vocal legislator said that as MPs, they expected the report to have full names of individuals behind the saga and recommend their prosecution.

“We rejected the report because it had no insights. We expected the report to recommend the prosecution of individuals who were behind the sugar” said Ngunjiri.

On the issue of money exchanging hands among a section of MPs over the same, the Bahati legislator admitted that indeed some legislators received money.

However, he was quick to state that it was not the reason why the report was rejected. “Our interest was to ensure those who were behind the contraband sugar are prosecuted,” said Ngunjiri.

Ngunjiri is now calling on Government to investigate what he terms is corruption in Parliament.

The legislator also called on the media to play their investigative role and inform the public.
