The police in Migori are investigating an incident in which an officer attached at Rongo Police station in Rongo sub-county Migori County was found dead in his house Thursday morning.
The officer who is alleged to have been on drugs for some time was found dead by a colleague after failing to report on duty on Wednesday.
Migori County DCIO Benedict Kigen said the officer failed to report for morning parade prompting colleagues to ask for his whereabouts.
“The officer was found dead lying on his bed by his colleagues after breaking into his house when he failed to report for morning duty, " said Kigen.
According to Kigen, the officer's door was locked from inside when the police broke into the house which was locked from inside.Mr Kigen said police have launched investigations into the officer's death as he had previously complained of ill health.
"We cannot reveal the officer's identity because we are yet to inform the family about the loss," Kigen said when asked about the identity of the cop.
The body has been transferred to Migori County Level Four Hospital Mortuary where the autopsy will be done.
