Sonko was recently under sharp criticism when he banned the entrance of public service vehicles, popularly known as matatus, from the city centre.

He termed the move one of his techniques to decongest the city.

However, speaking during a stakeholder meeting in Kiambu on Wednesday, Waititu took issue with the move, terming Sonko a threat to the Matatu industry.

He accused Sonko of attempting to privatise the city, urging him to seek other means of decongesting the city without victimising the sector.

"Let him know that Nairobi is not any person's property. The Governor should cease giving unrealistic orders aimed at victimising investors in the matatu sector," he said.

He also took a swipe at the National Transport Safety Agency (NTSA) over its recently launched plan to phase out 14-seater passenger vehicles in the nation.

Waititu is now calling for the ouster of NTSA Secretary General Francis Meja for failing to consult the sector's players before the planned ban and now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene.

"I am calling upon President Uhuru to send him home because he is openly too arrogant for that job," he added.

Waititu vowed to protect the over ten thousand 14-seater matatus operating within his county.
