As part of strengthening military cooperations, all Africa Air Force chiefs are set to meet in Nairobi for a seven days symposium, Kenya Air Force chief Maj Gen Francis Ogolla has said.
The event which will be the first to be hosted in Kenya, will also bring together United States Air Force team, whose main focus is African air space.
Among others, Ogolla said in a statement, the symposium will also focus on multinational security cooperation initiative. All African nations are expected to take part.
"The Kenya Air Force (KAF) along with the US Air Forces Africa (AFAFRICA) will host the Association of Africa Air Force Chiefs Symposium in Kenya for the first time from 20th to 29th August 2019.
"This is a multinational security cooperation initiative that brings together Air Chiefs from participating nations and is meant to foster more effective military relationships," KDF said.
Kenya Air Force forms part of Kenya Defense Forces and the team is tasked in guarding Kenyan space. It was founded at independence but was briefly disbanded in 1982 after a foiled coup.
At the moment, Kenya Air Force which is set to greatly benefit, is involved in active operations in Somalia in the ongoing war against Al-Shabaab.
Also expected to address the symposium when it opens is Chief of Defense Forces General Samson Mwathethe and Vice Chief of Defense Forces Lieutenant General Robert Kibochi.
