Every man would wish to have children of both sexes; sons and daughters. However, a man's desire for a baby boy dates back to thousands of years.

But why does a man's heart desire to have a baby boy?

Here are three major reasons:

1. A father needs a son as an heir

An heir is someone who would take over one's property upon that particular person's death. Fathers desire to have sons so they can take over their properties and businesses once they pass on.

It pains a man's heart knowing there is no rightful person to take over his wealth. This is why most fathers desire to have sons.

2. To continue the family's lineage

While a daughter will leave home to take over her husband's name, a son will push his father's name to the next generations. The question that rings on a man's mind is; will I have someone to continue my generation?

Men seek the pride and importance of having their names passed through the generations and so they desire to have baby boys.

3. Men believe they'd strongly connect psychologically with their sons than daughters

A father believes that he would psychologically connect with his son better than a daughter and there is also a probability that they will share some masculine interests.

Additionally, an African marriage with sons is unlikely to break as compared to marriage with only daughters.
