Dating is a game that you can do a lot of things right, and something small as messaging etiquette ends up being your undoing.

Messages should make the process much more effective. However, they could also put the potential partner off.

Here are five ways this can occur:

1. Poor grammar

Bad grammar can really cost you a great deal.

It means your potential partner will not get what you are trying to put across.

It can also make you be considered "immature " or "illiterate", and who would want to date such a person?

Good grammar ensures smooth conversation.

2. Taking too long to reply

Not many people are patient to wait for you to take your sweet time to reply.

Generally,  men have high tolerance thresholds than ladies, but neither like such kind of situations.

Taking too long to reply can make the potential partner feel you consider them desperate.

It's good to inform your potential partner if you are busy than leaving them "hanging".

3. Overuse of emojis

Emojis are meant to put the emotional context of your conversation into perspective.

However,  using many emojis makes the message boring and disorganised.

Misuse of emojis is another undoing.

If you don't know the meaning of an emoji, you better avoid using lest you portray a completely different message from what you intended.

4. Sending too many messages

Many consider this very childish.

Most people would prefer you to send one message containing all the information than sending ten messages after a few seconds.

Try to give the other person time to respond to your messages before you send the next.

5. Avoiding answering some texts

Some people are very choosy when it comes to what they reply.

If your potential partner wants to know something from you or something about you and you constantly ignore those "critical" messages, and only respond to others, this can easily put him/her off.
