Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba has fired warning to traders selling liquor without valid licences.

The county security boss said police officers won't spare traders selling liquor without valid licenses from Nyamira County government. 

"Selling, storage and distribution of liquor must be regulated so that we don't find people selling sub-standard liquor. For this therefore, police officers will continue with intense crackdown to nab traders selling liquor illegally without business permits," he stated. 

Mariba further said women engaging in illicit brew business should either stop or the be arrested for prosecution. 

"It is high time women are productive by venturing into legal businesses but, not making, selling and distributing illicit brews. The government has not legalized the sale of illicit brews," he added.  

According to the commissioner, several youths in the county have been rendered useless due to the use of illicit liquor. 

He urged bar and night club owners not to allow underage especially during this period students are on mid term break. 

"Bar owners should not sell liquor to underage children. Anyone found will be arrested and be taken to court," said Mariba.
