Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa has once again publicly confessed her support of Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid. Speaking in Bomet County on Sunday, Jumwa termed those opposing DP Ruto as mad people in the political market.

“Every market has madmen. That is normal and so whatever you’re hearing from these fellows, just understand the desperation in them,” Jumwa said.

The legislator was quick to clarify her latest move to support the Deputy President from attacks fueled by some Rift Valley MPs. She said her support is in line with the spirit of handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

Cherangany’s Joshua Kutuny, Moiben’s Silas Tiren and Nandi Hills’ Afred Keter are the MPs from Ruto’s backyard who are faulting his development record.

“For the spirit of handshake, I am here to support the DP because he is winning the race. Don’t be scared away by those madmen please, she said.

Her stand is likely to hurt unity in the Orange party at the coast.

Jumwa is likely to be criticised by several ODM leaders opposed to Ruto taking over from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
