Former Cabinet Minister George Ochillo Ayacko is optimistic of landing a new job from President Uhuru Kenyatta who on Friday nominated him for an ambassadorial job but moments later dropped his name.

Ayacko's name was read out as a candidate for the ambassadorial post by acting State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena but interestingly his name missed out on an official list sent out to the press on Friday evening.

Speaking to a local daily, the former Energy and Sports Minister said he was not disturbed by the turn of events and exuded confidence in landing a new appointment from the Head of State.

"The nomination is indeed a great honour to me and I thank President Uhuru Kenyatta. But when you see my name being withdrawn from the nominees' list, it is an indication that there is something even better for me," he told the Saturday Standard.

However, a close ally of Ayacko told the daily that the former governor aspirant declined the nomination since he had fixed his eyes on the forthcoming by-election in Migori following the sudden death of Senator Ben Okello Oluch.

But when reached to shed more light on the claims, Ayacko said: "I will not talk about that."

During the burial of Senator Oluoch at  Kanyimach village in Migori early this week, Raila persuaded Ayacko and his nemesis the incumbent Governor Okoth Obado to reconcile and work together for the common good of the residents.

The former Minister agreed to support Obado and pledged to withdraw his petition against the governor, a move analysts said was a sign he was determined to contest for the Senate seat.

"I want to assure the governor that I will withdraw the matter," Ayacko promised on Monday.
