Journalists from Central Kenya were on Saturday blocked by security agents from accessing President Uhuru Kenyatta's function.
Uhuru has been in a charm offensive to regain control of Mt. Kenya region, which has witnessed chaotic succession battles.
At Wang'uru stadium in Kirinyaga County, journalists were barred from accessing the venue where Uhuru is meeting local leaders, NTV reported.
Further, residents who were not in the lists submitted by the local administration were locked out of the event.
Uhuru is visiting Central Kenya where he is launching a host of projects aiming at reducing rebellion in his backyard.
On Friday, he visited Nyandarua County where he launched Njabini-Naivasha road worth Sh1.8 billion.
After Kirinyaga County trip on Saturday, Uhuru will visit the expansive Meru region where he is set to commission projects.
Imenti North MP Rahim Dawood said Uhuru will be warmly received.
“I will assure the President that we are looking forward to his being the chief guest at the BBI rally planned for February 15 and to tell him we are fully behind his stand and waiting for his political direction,” said Dawood.
