The Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court David Maraga presided over the swearing in of 47 new Magistrates at Supreme Court, Nairobi.
The move is aimed at increasing Judiciary capacity to the backlog management of cases that are before Courts across the country and enhance efficacy.
"I urge you to take charge of your courtrooms, ensure that we effectively manage cases and matters before us endless adjournment of cases on frivolous grounds is the very reason that we have case backlog in our system," the CJ said.
He further told the magistrates to render Justice.
The Chief justice also asked the magistrates to uphold the rule of law and Constitution of Kenya and work free from intimidation, corrupt activities for the betterment of this country.
The swearing incomes when the War on corruption was waged and all Criminal Justice actors, the media, police, prosecution, courts and prisons were called upon to ensure Justice is served to all.
The Chief Justice earlier last week at the Bomas of Kenya asked the prosecution to strengthen their investigations and have concrete evidence for cases to proceed for convictions.
The then evidently angry CJ said once weak evidence is presented before the court of law, they will have to acquit the those charged.
“The war against corruption will be won by (concrete) evidence. If you (the investigators) do not bring us evidence (or interfere with it), we will acquit because if we don’t acquit, we cease to be a Judiciary,” held Maraga.
The newly sworn-in magistrates will be distributed across the country to all counties for enhancing efficiency in the Judicial service delivery which came under criticism for its failure to handle corruption cases to the expectations of the people of Kenya.
