Questions have emerged over Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo's property at Westlands in Nairobi which he allegedly acquired in 2018.
A senior official in the county government of Nyamira who spoke in confidence, on Friday claimed that the DP had Sh100 million transacted to his account in March last year.
The official, who is a close ally of Governor John Nyagarama, added that a senior official had transferred the money to Nyaribo's account without following regulations.
"The governor was sick and wasn't going to the office most of the time. DG Nyaribo is not clean and cannot purport to call for lifestyle audit on other officers.
"Last year, he bought a property at Westlands for Sh100 million which was transferred by a county official who is now a director. Let him account for the property first," said the official.
Mr Nyaribo is leading the payroll purge which was ordered by Governor John Nyagarama. At least 1,000 people had their salaries stopped for alleged irregularities in recruitment.
But in a rejoinder, Mr Nyaribo dismissed the claims, arguing that he acquired the property in 2012 before joining county politics.
"I bought the property in 2012 and by then, I wasn't in politics. I have several other properties across the country. This is corruption fighting back," he said.
