The DP spoke when he toured Migori county where he was hosted by area county chief Okoth Obado on Monday.

Banking on the current warm relationship between opposition leader Raila Odinga and the ruling Jubilee Party, he said that the government would initiate development initiatives in the region largely allied to the opposing side.

This, he said, is in line with Jubilee's unification agenda, as it seeks to free the nation from political and tribal bias.

"We want to build one united country without political or tribal bias," he is quoted by the Nation.

The Deputy Head of State was speaking at the Maranatha Church Assembly in Migori Town.

Ruto's visit comes only a day after similar tours in Western Kenya on Saturday.

Ruto has been avoiding the Luo Nyanza region since the previous general polls where himself and President Uhuru Kenyatta who ran on a joint ticket held several rallies in the area.

He has, however, been frequenting the neighbouring Kisii and Nyamira regions which are deemed relatively friendly to Jubilee.

He promised to carry out more development tours in the entire region, vowing to tour the county in February next year again.
