A man is fighting for his life at Hema hospital in Kisii county after he was chopped off his left hand by thugs.
The incident happened on Tuesday night at Boisanga village in Bogiakumu, Kisii County.
Area assistant chief Charles Obutu said armed thugs stormed the victim Julius Okenye's shop and demanded money.
"It was at 9 pm when three thugs armed with machetes stormed Okenye's shop and demanded money from him. Okenye tried to kick them out in vain," said Obutu.
The chief said the thugs realizing the victim had become violent they chopped off his left hand before escaping from the shop.
"The thieves didn't manage to steal anything from the shop because Okenye raised alarm when he was chopped off his hand. The suspects escaped on foot towards Nyanchwa," he said.
The administrator assured that police have launched a probe to bring the suspects to book.
"The victim is in hospital and we thank God he is responding well to treatment. Anyone with information about the suspects should report to police to ease arrest," he added.
