The group has been pitching tent in the area every weekend to drum up support for it's candidate Chris Karan in the forthcoming by election.

On Saturday, Orengo led a group of fellow area leaders to Bar Ndege, East Ugenya Ward, where they received a rousing welcome from thousands of residents.

In a tweet after the rally, Orengo expressed his gratitude to the people for showing up in large numbers and promising to back Karan in the looming race.

"I wish to thank the people of Ugenya for a very warm welcome and strongly endorsing our ODM party candidate Chris Karan at a rally in Bar Ndege, East Ugenya ward. Asanteni sana (thank you very much)," he said.

The race has also attracted former area MP David Ochieng' who until now is considered Karan's main rival and a possible threat to the ODM party which has vowed to retain the seat.

Ochieng who is vying on the Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) successfully petitioned Karan's 2017 election in court.

After a series of court battles and appeals, Karan's election was finally nullified by the Supreme Court in December last year.

The rerun is set for early April.
