On Friday, Mr Momanyi was heard saying that he will work closely with the DP, adding that he's keen to be in his government together with Nyamira people.

"I will work with you this time round. We will not be left out and already our people know what they are doing," said Momanyi, adding that Ruto had helped him to secure PSC job.

But on Monday, the second term MP said that he's keen to to work with all leaders, saying that time for campaigning is not yet around.

Mr Momanyi instead asked leaders to embrace one another, arguing that factions such as Tangatanga and Kieleweke were uncalled for.

"I said that I will work with the DP just like any other leader. We never discussed 2022 politics and I think that's a creation of the media," he said in a phone interview.

A host of leaders endorsed Dr Ruto's 2022 bid on Friday with South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro saying that time was ripe for Kenya to consider him.

Mr Momanyi, a seasoned Wiper politician, is at pole position to succeed Governor John Nyagarama, who will be retiring in 2022.
