The president is expected to address various issues among them the war against corruption, and the strides made so far in the implementation of his big four agenda.

A section of Kisumu County residents have a lot of expectations ahead of the address, while others have nothing in particular to look forward to.

Here is a sample of views of some of the residents interviewed in Kisumu’s Tom Mboya Estate on Thursday morning.

“The State of the Nation address does not concern me at all. Nothing new will come out of it,” said Seline Adhiambo, a security officer.

“I expect the president to reaffirm his stand on the war against corruption. If we win the war against corruption, there will be nothing else to defeat us as a nation,” said Josiah Amayo, a university student.

“Corruption has dominated Uhuru’s previous addresses; this time round I want him to call to order all leaders who have started early campaigns for 2022. They are all over during funerals and on Sundays in Churches. They are becoming a nuisance,” said Andrew Onyango.

“Last week, the President signed various deals with his Ugandan Counterpart Yoweri Museveni. I expect him to explain to us what they agreed on and how all Kenyans are going to benefit from the deals, said Mary Awino, a trader.

“The other day I went to buy a soda and realized that five shillings has been added on a 500ml bottle of soda. He should explain to us why there is unnecessary increase of price of commodities every now and then,” said Maurice Ochieng, a motorbike operator.
