Since his appointment in October 20th, Raila has only visited Ethiopia, South Africa and Zimbabwe in that capacity.

But on Tuesday, Raila's immense powers and influence was manifested through tough security team guarding him besides reception by AU commission chairman Moussa Faki.

As a Pan-Africanist, Mr Odinga is accorded state reception lately whenever he visits foreign states, another indicator of his strong influence.

Since his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta on March this year, Odinga is a regular visitor at State House with his latest trip coming last week when Mozambique President Filipe Nyusi visited.
