As I walked into an M-pesa shop to withdraw some coins, I got a very big crowd around the shop that left me thinking a conman had been nailed.

To my surprise, upon reaching the crowd, the discussion was about William Kipchirchir Ruto and his 2022 bid!

For Ruto to become President in 2022, he must woo these politicians.

1. Kabogo

Bill, as the DP is popularly known within his close political circles, must befriend his namesake William Kabogo.

Kabogo is a moneyed politician as is likely to have a big voice in Mt Kenya with or without Uhuru Kenyatta around.

2. Waiguru

In the 2022 game plan, women will be crucial; crucial in getting the women's voice, as well as getting votes from men for you.

Waiguru fits the bill (no pun intended) due to her demeanour and ability to mobilise.

3. Sonko

Anyone who wants to win the presidency must strategise for the youth constituency. No man or woman appeals to the youth than Mike Sonko.

He is also a great mobiliser and has a deep wallet. These are the guys you need, running a presidential campaign is no child’s play!

4. Joho

Joho is a man with ‘strong-man’ syndrome. He chest-thumps a lot and talks big. When he speaks to the cameras you can think he has Raila Odinga’s popularity. Big talkers have a good game too in politics. 

5. Wetangula

You cannot afford to ignore the Mulembe nation, either for votes or to just give your team the ‘Face of Kenya’. In this matrix, go for Moses Masika Wetangula!
