Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has revealed that he has forwarded the names of Nominated MP Maina Kamanda and his Cherangany counterpart Joshua Kutuny to the International Criminal Court (ICC) ahead of the 2022 general elections.
In a press conference in Nakuru on Sunday, Ngunjiri said that he has forwarded the names of the two as a precaution, due to their alleged participation in an ongoing campaign to divide Kenyans ahead of the polls.
He noted that he has also forwarded the name of Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli who has also been making controversial declarations about the poll lately.
"Nimeandika barua kwa ICC na majina ya akina Kamanda, Kutuny na wengine ndio ijulikane who is dividing Kenyans. Pia Atwoli jina lake nimetuma (I have written to the ICC with the names of Kamanda, Kutuny, Atwoli and others. They need to know the people dividing Kenyans)," he said.
The three have raised serious opposition to Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
Kamanda and Kutuny are part of the 'Kieleweke' faction of the Jubilee Party, while Ngunjiri is a member of the 'Tanga Tanga' camp which has declared support for DP Ruto's bid.
Ngunjiri claimed that the trio has been inciting Kenyans and needs to be known to avoid confusion in case of any political disagreements in 2022.
He added that the move is aimed at preventing problems in the country and ensuring that peace prevails by putting the three under watch.
"These are the people inciting Kenyans. We don't want a repeat of what we saw in 2007," he added.
