Troubled former Nairobi County governor Evans Kidero has been arraigned in an anti-corruption court to answer to alleged Sh68 million graft allegations.
Kidero is appearing before Milimani anti-corruption court magistrate Douglas Ogoti.
The former governor is expected to face several charges among them; conspiracy to commit an economic crime, abuse of office, money laundering, and dealing with suspect property.
Kidero and other suspects are accused of allegedly making illegal payments to a law firm.
The former governor was arrested last week by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives and spent the weekend in custody at Kilimani police station.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji approved charges against Kidero and others last week.
Kidero's lawyer Nelson Havi has, however, rubbished the charges pressed against his client.
Havi argues that the alleged payments were made in 2011 when Kidero was not the governor of Nairobi County.
The lawyer also accuses the DPP and EACC of allegedly abusing their powers, by failing to present his client (Kidero) in court when he was arrested last week.
