Murder suspect Joseph Kuria Irungu was a jovial pupil at Carol Academy in Nakuru, teachers have said.
Irungu, alias Jowie, was even a great entertainer during the school’s extra-curricular activities.
Teachers at the school said they are shocked that Irungu, as they called him then, could be facing such grave charges.
Irungu is being charged with the callous murder of Monica Kimani at her Kilimani home.
“He joined Carol Academy at Class Five. Teachers in school were surprised to see his photograph in the newspaper as a murder suspect,” said a teacher at the school.
The teacher added that the former students’ accusations have been a subject in the school’s staff room since the matter came to the public.
“He was one of the school best entertainers. How he changed his character and behaviour is still a mystery to most of the teachers who handled him,” said the teacher.
