Kalonzo eulogised Njuguna, who died on Saturday after a long battle with illness at the Nairobi Hospital, as legend.

He said that Njuguna will be remembered for his prowess in football commentary.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of veteran sports commentator Mohammed Juma Njuguna. We all remember his prowess in football commentary that brought the country together. May he rest in peace,” tweeted on Sunday.

He was on Saturday evening laid to rest at the Kariokor Muslim Cemetery, in a funeral service that was attended by his family, friends and colleagues in the media industry.

Njuguna worked in the media industry for close to four decades. He was a content producer at Radio Citizen at the time of his death.

On March 10, 2010, retired President Mwai Kibaki awarded him with a Head of State Commendation.

He also worked at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation before joining the SK Macharia-owned Citizen Radio.

His colleagues have described him as a jovial person who gave them reasons to laugh all the time.
