Residents of Tombe in Manga, Nyamira County were left in a rude shock after a body of a 24-year-old man was found in a ditch on the roadside.
Confirming the incident Manga OCPD Samuel Kosgei said the deceased Josiah Nyambeki was last spotted inside a local bar in Tombe.
"Nyambeki according to residents who spoke to police in confidence said the deceased was in a local bar consuming beer before he left to his home only to meet his dead on the way," said the OCPD.
Kosgei said the body of the deceased had no physical injuries.
"The deceased might have fallen into the ditch under the influence of alcohol and was unable to come out of the ditch leading to his death," he stated.
He argued that members of the public who found Nyambeki in the ditch thought he was alive and rushed him to Christa Marianne hospital in Kisii.
"Nyambeki was rushed to hospital for treatment by members of the public but, he was pronounced dead by the medics," said Kosgei.
The police boss said the body was moved to the facility's morgue.
