He goes by the name Brian Sikulu, a third-year student at Moi University pursuing a degree course in Linguistics, Media and Communication. Even though he is a student, Sikulu is so passionate about broadcast journalism that his work in the field leaves no doubt that he is the next big thing in Kenyan Media.
The young journalist worked as a new anchor and a TV show host at Kenya Television Service (KTS) for two years before it was shut down. He has also interviewed some of the big names in the country including former Moi University Vice-chancellor Professor Laban Ayiro and Kenyan gospel artiste Kambua.
“Some of my most memorable interviews include the one with former Moi University VC prof Ayiro, Holly Dave, citizen TV's DJ Gee Gee, Kambua among others,” said Sikulu.
Currently, he is a blogger and a host of a YouTube talk show that is popular at the campus. With more than 60 YouTube videos that cover various subjects such as news, feature stories and interviews of various personalities, Brian Sikulu TV has over 734 subscribers.
“I am currently a blogger and the host of a YouTube talk show called Brian Sikulu TV. So far, I have done over 60 videos on YouTube with 734 subscribers,” he added.
Sikulu who is slowly making a name for himself, says his dream is to join the Standard Media group, adding that he draws inspiration from BBC journalist Larry Madowo.
