President Uhuru Kenyatta has never told me he wants to vie for a third term in power, opposition leader Raila Odinga has said.
Speaking at his Opoda home in Bondo, Siaya county when he hosted a delegation from Nakuru county, Odinga said that speculations that Uhuru wants to cling on power are baseless and ill-motivated.
He also said that Uhuru has remained committed to the delivery of his promises before he completes his second and final term in office.
He reminded the leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto not to spread propaganda before 2022.
The former Prime Minister insisted that President Kenyatta is still the Head of State and deserves respect in that capacity.
Odinga also said that he has not expressed interest in contesting for the nation’s top seat, amid speculation from Ruto’s camp.
"We haven't said we want this or that...Uhuru hasn't said he wants to vie for presidency again. Raila has not said he wants to go and vie for presidency again,” he stated.
On Friday, the opposition leader noted that there will be radical changes in governance ahead of 2022.
The suggestion for changes has, however, not augured well with Ruto’s side.
The second in command has rubbished Raila’s promise on radical changes before the end of Uhuru’s term in office.
