The mention of Valentine’s day always sends shivers down the spines of many men, even though it is a day to celebrate love.

It may not come as a surprise that many ladies are usually dumped during the eve of the day, or on the day itself, than any other day in the year.

Before the day, rumours had begun circulating that there was a men’s conference that would start today and end on February 16.

However, this was just an excuse men came up with to avoid Valentine's day because they are afraid of it.

These are some reasons why men are afraid of Valentine’s day:

1. He could be a cheater

If your man makes an excuse that he is not available for you this Valentine, then the chances are high that he has set the day for another woman, the one he really values.

Consequently, what should come into your head is that you fall way below the pecking order, even if he makes a gesture such as dropping flowers to your workplace.

2. Financial obligations of Valentine’s day

Being a day to celebrate love, a man is supposed to make arrangements for this special day.

He is required to buy a gift, take a lady to some expensive restaurant, and maybe take her to some exotic holiday destination.

These financial spending, coming straight after 'Njaanuary', are some of the expenses men try to avoid.

Or maybe, as a lady, you are not worth spending money on.

3. The ladies call the shots on Valentine’s day

With all honesty, Valentine’s day is the lady’s day. She expects to be treated today like it is the end of the world.

A man will have no peace should he ignore to take care of the missus even though he has been doing so the last three hundred and sixty-four days.

For purposes of equality, why can’t we men also be treated by our ladies?

A home-cooked meal, perhaps a movie, and just sit there and reflect on the relationship. Is that too much to ask ladies?
