Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba has fired warning shots at men engaging in sexual activities with underage girls.
Speaking in Nyamira on Monday, Mariba raised concerns over the increased cases of men engaging in the illegal activity.
"It is worrying that men including those who are married are chasing after schoolgirls for sex. I want to reiterate that men taking advantage of minors to engage in sex with them will not be spared by the law," said Mariba.
He appealed to local chiefs across the county to be on the lookout and ensure men engaging in illicit sex with young girls are dealt with accordingly.
The commissioner further warned residents against solving sex-related cases outside court, adding that the lives of young girls should not be sacrificed in exchange for money.
"Few individuals who demand for money from men found having sex with young girls must stop. Any man found sleeping with underage girls must be surrendered to police and arraigned in court," he added.
Mariba urged parents at the grassroots to ensure that they educate their children about the dangers of engaging in illicit sex and ensure their safety at all times, especially girls who are the target for men.
