The second in command was accompanied by a number of leaders during the visit to the residence of the son of former President Daniel Moi, in Kabimoi village, Baringo County.

Baringo Governor Stanley Kiptis and Eldama Ravine MP Moses Lessonet were among the leaders who accompanied him as he made his way to the place.

He later met members of the immediate family of the deceased, as well as residents from the area.

Ruto, who has expressed his interest in the nation’s top seat, had earlier described the deceased as a patriot who was determined to change lives of many.

He hailed him as a great Safari Rally Drive who left a mark in the contest.

“Saddened by the passing on of Jonathan Toroitich, son of former President Moi. Jonathan made his name as an enthusiastic, competitive and masterful rally driver. He was sociable, affable and loved a good laugh,” he said.

Uhuru also toured the home of former President to condole with the family following the death.

He eulogized the deceased as a warrior and patriot.

AU special Envoy Raila Odinga has also condoled with Moi's family.
