Deputy President William Ruto has been for the last few weeks making inroads to the western part of Kenya, be it launching projects, attending church fundraisers among other undertakings.
However, former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto feels that DP Ruto is getting it all wrong with how he is going about in a bid to get western votes in 2022.
The former Council of Governors (CoG) chairman says the DP is not associating with the likes of Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetangula who have more influence in the region.
"In terms of politics, I have hardly seen him with Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula. I have hardly seen him in a more serious way with the political parties that are in place there." Ruto said in an interview with KTN.
The Chama Cha Mashinani leader also noted that politicians that the DP associates with are mostly newcomers or leaders who have no much influence.
"I see him with my friend Lusaka (Senate speaker) I am yet to be convinced with his political weight in that region. Are you telling me we have to count on Washiali who is probably the senior-most? The others are extremely new, we don't know their quantity. So there is no guarantee of the Western region if it's about politics," he said.
The former Chepalungu MP further said that had he remained the advisor of DP Ruto, he would tell him to go and look for people with capacities in those areas to bring votes.
