Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo on Sunday left tongues wagging after he received a heroic welcome in Molo – miles away from his political backyard.
Kabogo was accompanying Deputy President William Ruto for a church function in the town where a crowd demanded that he addresses them.
Ruto, while addressing a roadside crowd outside Molo secondary moments after the function, was introducing leaders who were in his convoy. When he mentioned Kabogo, the crowd went wild with thunderous cheers.
The crowd chanting Kafa Kabogo slogans asked that he speaks.
The DP obliged and called Kabogo atop his car and handed him the microphone.
He addressed the crowd in Kikuyu leading to more cheers. The flamboyant politician hinted to a political pact with DP Ruto.
“Haha niho turi riu andu aito, uguo niguo kuri. Na tutigabangwa ni mundu, twifange (We are here with Ruto, this is the way. Nobody should tell us otherwise),” Kabogo said.
He was the only leader who addressed the roadside crowd.
Other leaders who had accompanied the DP include Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, MPs David Gikaria, Kimani Ngunjiri, host Kuria Kimani among others.
Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui did not attend the DP’s church function, he was represented by deputy governor Erick Korir.
