This is after the police confirmed that the vehicle had the approval of the Department of Mines and Geology to ferry the product to Kericho County.

The police have established that the material was to be used in a quarry based in Ainamoi.

The same was confirmed by Bomet County Commander Naomi Ichami who said that the owner of the vehicle, Nitro Chemicals Company Limited has produced the documentation required for the release.

“The owner of the truck has provided the necessary documentation allowing us to release the truck for the onward journey to the quarry located in Ainamoi area of Kericho County,” she said.

The Isuzu lorry with registration number KBT 779Y was nabbed with 1,750 kilogrammes of ammonium nitrate and 50 detonators, which the police thought were being moved from Western Kenya to Nairobi for possible terror operations.

Police Spokesman Charles Owino had said that the truck was nabbed after the police received reports from concerned citizens about its suspicious nature.

He said that police acted in line with an ongoing attempt to combat terrorism.
