The incident happened on Sunday evening at Nyabiosi village, Kasarani, Kisii County.

A witness, Geoffrey Morumbwa told Hivisasa that the suspect, Sarah Mayaka attacked Eveline Kemunto with a machete when she found her on the road waiting for her husband, James Mayaka.

“Sarah has been warning Eveline to stop the illicit love affair with her husband Mayaka but she could not listen. Sarah armed with a panga was hiding at maize farm waiting for Eveline to avail herself at the usual place where they usually meet with Mayaka to make love. Sarah cut Eveline three times on the head and fled,” said Morumbwa.

He said locals chased Sarah but luckily she escaped into a bushy maize farm.

Area Assistant Chief Benjamin Ayuma condemned the attack and said the suspect could have reported the matter to authorities.

“No one is above the law. Sarah could have reported the matter to me or any other local government representative instead of attacking Eveline. She is being traced to be arrested before she is taken to court,” he said.

He called on women to stop going out with married men in the area to avoid unnecessary attacks and fights.

The victim was rushed to Nyangena hospital for treatment.
