All eyes are on President Uhuru Kenyatta as the search for Boinnet’s successor begins.

The ex-spy is expected to leave office today after his four-year term came to an end.

Boinet, 56, has been among the officers who were spearheading a number of changes within the police service before he completed his term.

During his leadership, a number of reforms in the police service were implemented including the streaming of major operations within the unit.

Some of the notable adjustments that happened during his leadership include change in police uniform as well as merger of Kenya Police and Administration Police.

The changes were embraced as a way of boosting the response of the security department as far as the fight against crime is concerned.

He was appointed on December 31, 2014 by President Kenyatta.

Before his departure from office, Uhuru named a new team into the National Police Service Commission.

The head of state named Eliud Kinuthia as the chairman of the NPSC.

Uhuru also appointed Atieno Otwala, John ole Mayaki, Lilian Kiamba, Eusibius Laibuta and Kipchirchir Rono as commissioners.
